The Storm Within

She sits in the dark night with her eyes raised
Staring into heaven’s shadow.
She stares ‘til the black sky tenses.
The sky’s blackness morphs to a dark orange-red hue.

The disquiet of the heavens stirs the stagnant air.
Fuming in disgust and protesting to her intense stare,
The air morphs into wind.
Wind bursts out and awakens the earth’s crust;
Dust becomes a painting on all life.

She continues to stare,
She doesn't blink
The sky squirms

Her eyes are the vents to her fury
Her anger tortures the innocent night’s sky
Her rage yanks out the breath from the wind

As trees fly, the heavens begin to cry
Its tears splattering as blood from a severed artery

Her eyes are stung by heavens tears; she blinks.
As the heavens weep, the cries of the skies louden
Every scream triggering a radiant steak across the skies

The boisterous wind crushes her down
As heaven’s tears cleanses her.
As the raging furnace burning deep within her is doused,
She turns to him and whispers

Gateways and Pearls

She soars on the wings of a song
A song of love, a song of truth
A song touching the soul
A song extracting every bit of pain
From an afflicted heart

He rides on the crest of a lingering wind
A wind devoid of worries, a wind of certainty
A wind instilling within his chest, hope
A wind blowing away the clouds of despair
From a dejected self

Together, they glide effortlessly
Into a promise
Etched into the eyes of none
But the two
As one

Tears of a Fatherless Son

You hardly read to me
She always did
She spoke to me
Making me feel wanted, and loved
She asked why you were always busy
You said it was to make my life comfortable
And that when I arrived, you’d be there
My underdeveloped heart gladdened
It filled with expectations of seeing you
I just couldn’t wait

The doctors pronounced me premature
For I was in a hurry to see you
I was overwhelmed with joy as I heard your gruff voice
For I knew you were the one
The one in whose arms I’d mature

I loved my first encounter with you
You were so scared to hold me
Thinking you’d damage my developing bones
I remembered how she giggled
When you delicately wrapped your arms around me
I especially loved you referring to me as junior
And I looked forward to spending my life with you, senior
But, it’s been 19 long, lonely years since…

Accumulating the sporadic times I spent with you
Would not even amount to two years

What went wrong, daddy?
What went wrong?

Anytime she reminded you to spend time with me
You asked her of her existence
But she needed you too
To complement her existence
And anytime I cried for you
You told me to look forward to our quality times
Could you explain the “quality time”, for I know not what it is
Was it the 4 weekly minutes of you asking “how are you?”
Or my formative years spent in the midst of strangers

Your guidance was a desire I craved
I needed you to show me the way
To spank me anytime I misbehaved
And to laugh even though my jokes were dry

I needed to know about men from a man
Those dreams at night
My sticky pajamas in the morn
Those eternal, tormenting emotions
The angst, the lust, those youthful desires
She tried, but she didn’t really understand
You understood, but you didn’t really try
I guess to you, I wasn’t important enough

I might sound ungrateful
If so, please pardon me
Cos I am truly grateful for all you did

Your money sent me to the best nursery school
But I wasn’t nursed to my satisfaction
You provided me the finest basic education
But my basic desire was for you
Then you locked me up in your former senior high school
Leaving me with that obnoxious “school father”
You even bought me trained home teachers
But my most important teacher should have been you

After I graduated top of my class
You image was absent from my graduation pictures
I am educated and there is emptiness in me
I can’t boast about my dad, for I know not who he is
I know you aided in my birth but I know not who you are

I doubt you can hear me say all these
But I wish you could hear me say all these
I wish snippets of my voice will drift into your fading consciousness

My heart aches as I see all those tubes plugged into you
The breath in me drains as I feel your cold, lifeless hands in mine
Oh, how I wish I could comfort myself by reminiscing about our happy times!
Alas, I find no memories

I want to scream at you for depriving me of your love
But I wish I could give a part of me to see you arise
I wish I could have just one extra day with you
I love you dad; I think I do
But I miss you more than the opportunity I had to love

PS: This is a plea to all guys to consider the responsibility of being a father before impregnating anyone. And to those that have children: please, be a responsible and loving father. Do not deprive them of your love which essentially involves the time you spend with them.

Tortured Souls

He loved her, she knew.
She loved him not, he knew.
They both settled for friendship.
Their friendship blossomed.
And he was glad,
Glad, because he thought there could be some love hiding somewhere.
Then came the day,
That day she told him she had found a Man.
Cursed be that day!
Was he also not a Man?
Cursed be the day she told him the Man had proposed.
Cursed be the “YES” she claimed she told Him.
Cursed be the “I’m happy for you” He told Her.
And Cursed be the day They got married!
All those times, the love he had in his heart
Felt like it was being squeezed out, little by little,
Till every last drop of love was squeezed out.
He felt he had no love to give,
And was incapable of accepting another’s love.
He became alone.
Alone and tortured,
So tortured, he severed all ties with her (and her new life).

Now here they are,
Sitting face to face,
In his house,
In his couch.
He became teary-eyed as he learned from her
The trauma she went through.
He felt for her.
And the love was coming back.
Should he remind her?

As she spoke, he could feel her anguish, her pain.
A pain from which she would never escape.
A pain he could do nothing about than to offer his shoulder.
He drew near and she placed her head on his shoulder as she sobbed.
She was trapped in a tortured world.
He was trapped too; in her tortured world.
She was haunted by her memories.
He was haunted by her pain,
And his desire.
The desire to dry her eyes with his lips,
The desire to kiss her pain away.
Should he?
He thought against it.
Maybe later,
After he had helped her withstand the torture,
After he had helped her conquer the pain.
For now, he would be content,
Content with being the shoulder she could cry on.

The Petal’s Kiss

Rose petals falling from the sky
Bathing me in their sweet scented fragrance
I feel the soft texture all over my skin
Then an unusually large petal
Falls on my face
It turns into a mouth
And kiss’ my lips…

Just a Call

A call, eh
Just a call o
Just a call I forgot to make
She sent me a text, I realized my mistake
So I called 700 times, she refused to pick
Now my heart is bleeding, stabbed with a sharpened stick

I sent 7000 messages, she replied none
My sorrows multiplied; at least she should reply one
I even sent another, making it 7001
In it I told her she was my sun
She’s so hot; I always have to buy a new fan
And she’s the only force that makes my blood run
If she thought there was another woman
I assured her there was none.
We were meant to be, at least, that was the plan

Darling, I plead
Just a reply
And I wouldn’t die
Like a semiconductor, I’d be doped high
And fly high like Elijah and soar through the sky
Together, we’d form a car, with you being the chassis, and me, the tire
In fact, I promise I’d wear that blue tie
Please, just reply….

The Exchange

Always knew
Always loved

She knew I loved her not
Yet she loved me still
My heart belonged to another
This she knew

Once, my heart got broken
I became dejected
Feeling glum, and down
She listened, smiled
Expressed her love
And took me for a walk

We passed by the workshop of a goldsmith
She went in
Then came out
Then dragged me inside

I paused, wondered
She said to trust her
So I did
She said to lie down
Hesitant
But I trusted her
She lay by me
Held my hand

The goldsmith took a dagger
Placed it in his fiery furnace
Fiery red it became

The goldsmith approached me
I froze, shuddered, chilled
I wanted to bolt
But couldn’t move
She held me still
Speaking words of comfort

The goldsmith carved a hole
In my chest
I felt an instant pain
Then no pain
In His hands, I saw my heart
If it were a face
Pale and sad will be the right adjectives
The goldsmith moved towards the furnace
I tried screaming
My voice box failed
The goldsmith placed my heart in the furnace

He turned towards her
Lifted the dagger
And made a hole between her firm breasts
I was horrified

Her heart glowed
It was beautiful
The goldsmith placed her glowing heart into the furnace

I tried to think
My brain failed me

He took out my heart
It looked pale and flaccid
But not sad
My heart went into her chest
And the cavity sealed

He then took her heart out of the furnace
It glowed more, radiated with life
More beautiful than before

It has been refined, purified
I experienced a tingling sensation
As He placed her heart within me

As the goldsmith sealed the hole in my chest
I felt a new life
A new force
Renewed energy
A soothing warmth and
Unadulterated Love…

A Tear Drop

Night falls, heavy dew
Dew drops, beautiful petals
A cool breeze, morn dawns
Beautiful petals, dew drops

Just a drop
My heart melts
My blows soften
I realize, how fragile you are

Just a drop
My thoughts change
My tongue recoils
I realize how hurt you are

Just a drop
My frown erases
A reluctant smile draws
As I see your innocence

Just a drop
You in my arms
I nod to your heart beat
My stupidity plays in my head

Dew scented air
Rose petals on my tongue
Its thorns…
…Prick my heart

White Hot Flame

I turned on the lights
And she was there
She was angry
And disappointed
And slightly drunk
With a gun
Aimed at my chest
She looked dangerous
She still loves me
But she won’t let me continue
To torture her, to live
Fear masks my face
As her index finger
Applies firm pressure
To the trigger

She took my lessons seriously
Memories of the shooting range
I held her hips
Corrected her stance
Showed her how to cradle the gun
Showed her not to jerk the trigger
“How would you like your breasts caressed?”
Her dreamy eyes held mine
“Gentle, firm...”
I put a finger to her lips
“Don’t say too much”
“I don’t want to walk round with a tent in my pants”
She giggled
“That’s what you do to the trigger” I said
“You don’t jerk it”
“Just squeeze it, firm and gentle”
POW!!!
Bulls-eye
Almost
She giggled again
She had a good aim
A perfect eye

Those memories
Made more globules of sweat
Form and drip
From my sweaty face
The nozzle aimed at my chest
She squeezed the trigger

She forgot one tip though
The choice of gun
“Always prefer a revolver to an automatic...”
“Revolvers never let you down”
She had an automatic.
A .45 ACP
And it let her down
It got jammed
Like a frog
I leapt
And knocked the gun out of her grip
The pistol fell
And skidded away
Under the couch it went

She kicked out
Her left foot at my groin
She missed…
“OUCH!!”
I trained her too well
The kick, powerful
Caught me in my lower abdomen
I crumbled
Her Persian carpet
Kissing my cheeks
She jumped on me
She wouldn’t give up
I’m in shit

Ooops…
In mid-air
Her right breast
Escaped her blouse
And fell on me
She fell on me
She’s mighty heavy
She’s mighty strong

I felt her long manicured nails
Red and black
Slapping my face
“Lucy, I Swear I did nothing…”
I felt the open wound
It stung
As a sweat drop dripped in

“You lair, Son of a b*tch”
She was sobbing
“You promised”
“You pledged”
“You vowed”
Should I throw her off?
I tried
She had me pinned down
Both of her thighs
At my sides
Her knees
Restricted my arms
“That tramp”
She screamed
She was crying now
“Your mistress”
“You said you’ve broken up”
“Yet she calls, tormenting me”
“She told me you were there”
“You both ate”
“And you ate”
“And slept”
“I even heard you snore”
“And she taunted me”
“Said I can never ever have you”

I smiled
“Darling, she’s a lying tramp”
That girl is devilish
I wondered how I even got involved with her
“Please look in my left pocket”
“And take out my phone”
“Check the caller ID”
“Check the pictures I took today”

Her anger subsided
Her exposed breasts….
“Oh” she said
“You were at the parade”
“And you went over to my parents’ place”
“Why?” she asked

She looked at my face
I looked at hers
My eyes didn’t
They remained on her breast
That nipple…
She must have felt my hardening member
She shifted
She sighed
Our eyes made contact
I saw it
She saw it too…..

THE LETTER I NEVER MAILED

I never forgot the day we established a connection
When you registered me in your HLR
I made a hard hand off with the other BTS girl
And dedicated my transmission to you alone

So please download me unto your hard drive
Let us, in amplitude and frequency, modulate our love
Never should there be cell splitting between us
But rather, we should be under one cell site

Exceedingly hot is my love for you that I want us to splice
My whole mind for you is a cache memory
And you are the only cookie in it
The mention of your name codes me in smiles

Darlington push-pull transistors I will employ in our relationship
So our love can amplify exponentially
You should know that when I’m with you, there’s no pipelining
My heart is circuit switched for you alone

For you, I will do everything to increase my S/I ratio
My love is all yours, no interference
But please, after all these, do not let me be a skew ray
Let me reside in the axis of your heart

Make your acceptance angle mine only
And will make my ray incident on you only
Then you will be my service layer, show me your applications
And I will be your control layer, enjoy my features

I would have continued
But optoelectronics test beckons
I hope you consider and simulate my proposal
And you will see that our love shall be like protons and neutrons in a nucleus
